Rapids Soccer
Tuesday evening, Melissa and I headed over to Dick's Sporting Goods Park to watch the MLS Colorado Rapids play a Burgundy and Blue game against the Metro State Roadrunners. It was a free game for the public, so the stadium was not even a quarter full (the temps in the low 40s probably did not help either). These preseason matches are usually played between the starters and second line as an opportunity to introduce the players to the fans and get ready for the regular season, however this match was against the local state college.
Metro State was coming off another stellar season that saw the team advance to the NCAA tournament for a third consecutive year. However, they were no match for the professionals and were held mostly to a defensive roll throughout the match. Not that the Rapids were much better. They ended up winning 6-0, but had some very lack luster moments that will get them slaughtered in regular season matches, which start this Saturday versus the Kansas City Wizards. Should be an interesting season for the Rapids.
